Hello! I’m Carmalita. Welcome to my healthy journey.
I’ve embarked on this journey for two main reasons: to be there for my children as long as I can and to maintain my independence as I age. This blog is my way of keeping track of my progress and holding myself accountable. To anyone who decides to read it, I hope you enjoy following my journey and that it encourages you to make healthy changes in your life too.
Current Situation:
I weigh 250 lbs. When I’m at home and off work, my lifestyle isn’t very active, but my job keeps me on my toes. I work three days a week, twelve hours each day, loading trucks with boxes ranging from 1 lb to 40-50 lbs. With limited breaks, my job is definitely very physically demanding.
Goals:
Here are the changes I want to make in my life:
- Stop overeating
- Be more active
- Eat healthier choices of food
I’ve always had a problem with overeating, especially when I’m bored, sad, or stressed. This habit is probably the biggest reason I struggle to lose weight, despite having an active job.
Current Diet:
My diet right now is a lot of snacking throughout the day (chips, cookies, cakes) and random food like nuggets, pizza, fries, and sometimes leftovers.
Plans to Improve:
To tackle these problems, I plan on meal prepping two to three times a week with healthy meals I can grab when I’m hungry. I tried meal prepping before, but eating the same thing all week got boring, leading me to snack on everything else in the house.
This time, I will also separate my snacks from everyone else’s, so I don’t have to face all my kids’ and boyfriend’s snacks. While I wish I could just remove them from the house, that’s not a realistic option.
I’ll also practice mindful eating to check if I’m truly hungry or just bored, stressed, or maybe even thirsty.
Staying Active:
I’ve started being more active on my days off by working out three to four times a week, and it’s going really well so far. I’ve been working out for a month now, following YouTube videos since I’m not great at creating workout routines on my own.
I also plan to be more active throughout the day by living life and not just scrolling on my phone. So much time gets wasted on my phone when I could be playing with my children, working in my garden, enjoying the nice day, and so on.

Ending:
I’m excited to continue this journey and see the progress I’ll make. If you’re reading this and want to make a change in your life, I encourage you to take that first step. Together, we can build healthier habits and support each other along the way. Thank you for joining me on this path to a healthier life!
